Healing our World

On this October 4, 2020, World Communion Sunday, I want to give God glory and praise for healing by what happened 3 months ago during the online Communion Service at First United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. I had an irritating pain in the middle of my lower back. Already I had restarted the supplements I use that stops joint pain for me. They hadn’t helped. I had been to my chiropractor who restored joints that were out of place.  That helped other points, but I developed a nagging, irritating pain in the middle of my lower back.  I recalled a sermon on healing by Joseph Prince on TV. He emphasized the words in I Peter 2:24, “by his stripes, you have been healed.” During communion, I was contemplating Jesus’ body of bloody stripes from the Roman lash and the phrase “by his stripes, we are healed.” Something Jesus said occurred to me, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” So, why not ask? “Father, if you will, you can heal my back. Please be merciful to me,” I said, or something to that effect. A warming sensation like a hot ball came into my lower back, at first hurting a little more. Then the discomfort stopped. I have not had any more of that trouble. Praise God Almighty, a Strong Force on our behalf.
